POSTGRADUATE STUDIES

Honestly, I don´t think so much in the future, especially if is about my future job or other studies, like postgrades. It depresses me, because I feel very old. But I don´t choose the topics of the blogs so, here I go!

In the future, after having the title of journalist in my hands, I would like to work in a magazine or a book editorial, that´s why I would like to do a course in ICEI about cultural journalism, criticism and book publishing. This course would help me to have more experience in the area, and thus can aspire to more important jobs.

After this, I hope travel around the world, and would be wonderful if I can stay in Europe to study a master, especially I would like to do some course like that in a country like Spain, because his journalism is very interesting, or maybe practice more Italian language and study in Rome, because I love that place, so it would be like a dream.

I think that these postgraduate studies would be done in person, being that the last year I tried take a course online and I don't liked the experience, because I don't felt a real commitment.


Finally, I hope that when I have so much experience in written press and book publishing, can do a master about university education, and maybe work teaching my knowledges.

My Future Job

I think that since I started to study journalism I have dreamed of working in a magazine. The classes that I have enjoyed most in the University have been those of writing, and I imagine being able to work writing in a more relaxed style, but with good content.

I must admit that I have never been in the editing rooms of a magazine, so I only imagine many desktops with computers, I do not get too excited about the idea of the offices, but I can tolerate it for the first few years.

Perhaps if I succeed in the future, I wish I could be editor of my own magazine, and thus have more innovative and joyful workspaces, or another option would be to work on travel chronicles like Pancho Saavedra hahaha, and thus not be tied to a office, would be wonderful!

If I worked on chronicles of travel, I would like to be able to travel very south of the country, to those lost islands, and to towns far away for Chileans in other continents, so that I can tell stories from other cultures, similarities with other people.

In addition, I would like to do the ICEI diplomat on cultural journalism, criticism and book publishing, or some master's degree in university teaching, as are other areas of my career that I would like to explore.

My Favourite Film Ending: Collateral Beauty

My favourite film ending is the ending of Collateral beauty, a 2016 drama film starring by Will Smith. I chose this because it shows a process of healing, about how influence in my relation with others how I feel with myself and a conexion with the elements that compose our lives: love, time and dead.

Collateral beauty shows the story of Howard, a man who lost a daughter. He changed his life, now he is always alone, angry, sad, and very quiet, completely different to who was he in the past. His three best friends are really worried about his mental and emotional sanity. One day, they discovered that Howard writes letters directed to time, love and dead, criticizing their work in human life, and they decide answer this letters with actors who interpret this symbolics characters, hoping that in these conversations he can cure his pain; thus making the complete film a beautiful therapy for both the characters and the spectators.

When the movie draws to an end appears the most beautiful teachings. He began to understand that there is still much to live for, such as the people who loved him and whom he had begun to ignore. That's when we see the reunion with his ex-wife, who spent all this time waiting for him to heal and forgive himself. The main teaching that gives to the viewers is how it influences in the connection with others how I see myself and how I position myself in life, if we seek the positive and beautiful side of life, we will always receive support and love from our around, if you live far away and immersed in your own rage, you will never heal.

Finally, after seeing the ending of the film, one understands what "collateral beauty" is and how it is reached, since when the characters analyze their life and connect with love, death and time, they understand the real meaning of life, about how we should accept both good and bad things that occur in it, drawing lessons from every moment. If the human being manages to connect spiritually with each of these elements, including the incomprehended death, he will be in tune with all his surroundings, with the past, present and future.

In short, the ending of this film is wonderful, because through the history of Howard manages to transmit in a magical way related teachings about accepting our destiny and always get the best of each stage of our life, although at first we see everything black , as when a loved one dies. This film teaches us how Howard can heal his pain and thus get to understand his friends and reconnect with them, thus achieving all be in tune with his surroundings and the cosmos.
